We arrived in the city of Manchester after a long plane ride that was made even longer by an
emergency stop in St. John's, Newfoundland for a medical emergency for one of the passengers.
We then took the train from Manchester to York.
York is a beautiful city. It is the only city in the UK that still has an intact curtain wall surrounding
the city. The York Minster is a huge cathedral that dominates the skyline of the city. Ehren attends
the University of York at its Centre for Medieval Studies just a block or so from the Minster in
the Kings Manor. Our hotel in York was right across the street, next to the Bootham Gate.
