We rented a car one day while we were in York to take a field trip to Fountains Abbey which
is located near the town of Ripon around an hour's drive away. It was one of the major
abbeys during medieval times, but was destroyed by King Henry the Eighth during his takeover
of all of the Catholic infrastructure when he formed the Church of England. Today it is a ruin
that is in a park-like setting.
